The typical house in metro Phoenix’s priciest enclave sells for nine times what the average Valley homebuyer pays.
Here's a look at the five most expensive neighborhoods based on 2018 home prices, according to The Arizona Republic’s Street Scout Home Values.
The Street Scout data comes from The Information Market, owned by the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service.
85253: Paradise Valley
The median price of a mansion in metro Phoenix’s poshest ZIP code is $1.56 million, after a 14 percent or $200,000 increase in 2018.
Paradise Valley has Arizona's largest selection of mansions and some of the best views of Mummy and Camelback mountains.
The community, surrounded by Phoenix and Scottsdale, is home to celebrities, professional athletes, politicians, business leaders and upscale resorts.
Stock market shakes often impact luxury home sales, but last year’s drops didn’t hurt prices in the Valley’s only neighborhood with a seven-figure median home price.
85262: North Scottsdale
The median home price in this area of north Scottsdale hit $768,900 in 2018, making it the second priciest metro Phoenix neighborhood.
The area is home to the exclusive Desert Mountain golf-course community, as well as Troon and Legacy Trail.
Home prices climbed 9 percent in the 85262 area, but are still 21 percent from 2006’s peak price of $978,000.
85255: North Scottsdale
The median price in this area, which is home to DC Ranch, McDowell Mountain Ranch and Grayhawk, was $708,578 at the end of 2018.
The north Scottsdale neighborhood’s median price climbed 3 percent last year.
The area doesn’t boast a median price above $1 million, but it does have some of metro Phoenix’s priciest mansions. A 20,000-square-foot estate in DC Ranch’s Silverleaf neighborhood sold for $18.8 million last year. Other mansions nearby are listed for even more.
85377: Carefree
The median home price in this upscale north Valley area was $707,973 last year, down about $3,000 from 2017.
Mansions can be found carefully built into the signature boulders in this community, where the streets have whimsical names such as Ho Hum Drive and Nonchalant Avenue.
Carefree’s median home price hit a high of $795,000 in 2006.
85266: Northeast Scottsdale
This neighborhood, home to Terravita in north Scottsdale, is metro Phoenix’s fifth priciest with a median home price of $687,000 at the end of 2018.
The Carefree Highway starts in the 85266 area, where the golf community of Whisper Rock can also be found.
Home prices in this swath of north Scottsdale fell 2 percent last year.
